Repetition

Open up the wounds
let the heartache flow again
watch me turn to my addictions
and let temptation be my guide
I'll quell the pain with thoughts of lust
drown the tears in temporary joys
as I'm tripping up the stairs of life
falling on every step I climb
It's a blind charge through endless repetition
running into doors I've closed
with a history of lies
I can't do the things I love anymore
I only love one thing now
and it calls to me
at times like these
like a lover lost in the night
it finds me with open arms
and pulls me aside
Am I strong enough to win this fight?
Can I do this all again?
As my strength cracks and breaks
I see how I've lied to myself
about the twisted merry-go-round I'm riding
and how long I can hold on
before I'm hurled aside for good
Because even though there's determination
lurking within my eyes
I can still feel myself fading
disappearing within my mind
There is no exit from this place
There is no victory to be found
Just another day of trials
another day to watch myself grow weak
It's just my fate
and the cross I bear
watching life turn around
spinning with the hands of the clock
opening up everything that was old
memories I tried to forget
become new again
and I'm sliding
as Iā€™m racing to the end
holding on as strong
as my shattered will allows
waiting until I finally slip
and drift into nothingness
losing myself for good
and forever ending
this senseless repetition

its pretty good. i can relate seeing as iv written alot in the past like this one i dont get to the site enough to see why its different and why you're afraid of it but theres no reason to be i also like how you covered so much… or so much in all the meaning i took from it

  2. Kristin says:

Like so many of your other poems, this piece really hits something inside me I've been scared to work on for months now. I'm still fascinated by the site, and I can't wait to read more.

  3. Nanami says:

    Nicely done.

I can understand your words seeing as how I've been in that exact spot countless times.

  4. Czerniana says:

Wow. You have a tendancy of releasing poems right in time with my life, and this one is an excellent example of what i've been feeling lately. Thank you so much for finding the words i couldn't. *hugs raven*

  5. Shelly says:

outstanding – as ususal! you always speak from the heart. you are the master! sending you out hugs and kisses.

  6. krystal f. says:

  7. Dana says:

I have to say that I have read a lot of stuff on this site and none of it has ever expressed the things I'm feeling so well…until now. This is a great poem. It brought me to tears.

  8. Alessa says:

I think I've mentioned before that you are amazing, well this just proves it!This is one of the best poems I have ever read. It's right up there with Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Raven' and Robert Frost's 'Nothing Gold Can Stay'.

  9. Brandy says:

I am sorry but I have read much better poems on this site, and I was not a bit impressed. It just couldn't keep my focused.

  10. Ivy says:

I really like that because my old feelings come back from a time period most treasured, but now is gone. It's hard because not many take the time to actually listen, but you wrote a poem which really captured something I never thought I'd come face to face with again. Honestly,I write poems exactly how I feel. I have no idea how you came about with this, but wow. Nothing to be afraid of here. Once again, another great poem.
    ~Ivy

  11. Bri says:

I love it, so much feeling expressed. I can highly relate. Nicely done.

  12. Michael says:

I liked it. Even the cliches flowed fresh and new. It could be great if some time was put into metering, reducing, and wording it better.

  13. Jasmine says:

This is an awesome poem, I can totally relate to it. Good job..keep up the good work!

  14. Candace says:

This was breath taking to me. Its so unexplanitory. keep up your writing its aswem!

  15. Aimee says:

    Raven,

I must say, you are starting to freak me out a little. It seems with every new poem posted up here my life is spoken. Its odd because the same things expressed in this poem is what i am going through right now. Its the same with all your other poems. Weird, but greatly written as always.

  16. tweeter says:

i loved this poem. just as great as the others, i jsut wish there was more time put into it and the wording was better. great poem though.
    \m/ rock on

  17. Courtney says:

I agree completely with Aimee. This poem is my life in words. Thank you so much for making sense of my chaotic thoughts.

  18. GothicRose(stephanie) says:

I can't tell you how many times I have felt this way and written poems or songs about it. It is about time someone else can say exactly how I feel. Thank you.

  19. Andrea says:

I haven't been on here in awhile but I'm glad I came back to read this. This is great. As all of your work is.

  20. Q says:

Have you ever gotten tired of people telling you that your work is "GREAT" ?

  21. alonedemon(ashley) says:

I have many written thoughts such as these
and they all come out in a way as chaotic as they seem
with your words id like to say thanks, and please
keep up with the writing not so mainstreem…
your work is very clear how you express your mind
the thoughts in your head i can cleerly read
i like the poetry i find of this kind
these give me ideas on which my own poems breed…
raven i thank-you yours truly Ashley

  22. Irvin says:

    Really great,
It's very beautiful… This is the best one yet.
I am very happy to read that!

  23. Black_Soul says:

Raven ur work is awesome! I love it. ur poems r the same way I feel. keep up the awesome work. i can relate to this poem seeing how much ive been in this same spot so many times. Thanx Raven
    -Cass-

  24. Belinda says:

hi good poem. Liked it. smile

  25. Valkyire December Mercy says:

The poem was so right. Truer words and thoughts could not have been put together and written so majestically. This poem, as others probably will, inspires my writings and drawings. I am but one person, but it seems others feel the same as I do, so listen to them, and keep writing these fantastic things. They are one of the few things that makes me feel real and understood, even if you don't know me.

  26. Lycosidae says:

Excellent job, Raven. This one hit me kind of hard, but it is a wonderful poem, as most of your works are.

  27. Tiana says:

this poem makes me worry about you. i hope your ok. it's kind of wierd how some people act like poems are just made up out of no where when almost always they are based on true feeling. i think it is kind of messed up when people say things like the poem isn't very good. it was not written for them it wasn't about them either so they should shut their mouths.

  28. Jacque says:

that peoem reminds me how i feel everyday

  29. Shadow Lander says:

well well well…this is the second poem i've read on this site, and it's pretty good. i've still read better, but hey, that still doesn't mean it's no good. im a poet, author and artist, and i could completely understand what u were saying in this poem. but one suggestion..maybe if you put more time into it,then u would be able to add more "real" things into it. my best poems come when i sit down and write the same poem for abut 3-4 days..putting a lot of thought into it..but it was good man…keep it up hey

  30. Abstract Loser says:

This poem is wonderfull in a mildly dejavu sort of way. it reminds me of how i have and often still do feel, it also provides a connection between me and a friend of mine, for she too feels like this…

  31. Samantha says:

I think this poem really says a lot. I see it as this: Kind of like you have this addiction that is so strong you know its not worth fighting. Like it was something you overcame a long time ago and it was only a matter of time before it crept up on you again. Like it only took one thing to trigger it….and when it did, you knew there was no hope.

  32. Alex says:

I think it kind of fails to come alive. It does not grab hold of the reader…my opinion

  33. GothFaerie says:

This poem is great. It really makes me feel something.. I'm not sure what it is, but this is really a great poem.

  34. Andrea says:

Well, I could write an essay about how this poem affects me and how it makes me feel… But instead… I'll just be lame and tell you that it was another great poem as always. šŸ™‚

  35. Morbid Mistress says:

I think this poem is really open and dark. It says a lot about things. I like it a lot. The dark stuff is what I like and I have to tell you I like this poem. Its really good. Well anyway that's all I can say right now. Bye bye

  36. joey says:

youre poem like its writen with so much expression i will never feel the pain it took you to write this magnificent piece but i will say it made me want to re do every emotion i'v ever had over again!

  37. angle of darkness says:

Raven, I love your work. I love all your poems, and this one, oh boy this one is just so darn cool.

  38. Fred says:

i like the style and even though it was hard for a simpleton such as myself to fully understand what you were saying i was still compeled to read on. in short i got the gist and it was an excellent piece.

  39. renee says:

i can really relate to this poem

  40. JoAnn says:
