Twilight

There is a magical time
When the stars are out
But the sun has not yet dropped
Below the treetops afar
When the sky is a crystal blue
And a million shades of black
It's when the streetlights come on
With a dull hum and flicker
It's when the children run inside
And the spirits begin to rise
It's the time the earth and I are one
As kindred as brothers
Two souls caught between two worlds
Fighting to simply stay in limbo
Because while the stars dot my sky
My sun still burns strong
Forever caught in transition
Seeking to defy identity
We hold on to our halves
And let them make our whole
A whole written in fading colors
That form a twilight
That is unlike any other
A twilight that never ends
And is as unique as the shades themselves
