and my demons come out to feast on me again

when I’m too lost to return home
and I don’t need your comforting touch
I just need to be left alone to sit quietly in the dark
Don’t offer me a friendly hand
nor a tender embrace of love
Just let me surround myself with shadows
and let my troubles eat me whole
Don’t try to save me when I can’t be saved
and keep your tender words for another day
a day when the tides of my heart have changed
and my soul flows the other way
But until that time remember that I love you
and that you’re still the keeper of my heart
but for the moment love is not my friend
and your tender touch and sweetest smile
are like poison to my aching soul

Let me sit alone in the dark
Let me find comfort in forgotten lusts
Let me bandage my heart with solitude
and dry my tears with time
I know that you understand
and I pray that you’ll return

i never liked a poem that never had any ryming in it i guess because i just could't relate or couldn't understand what that person was going through. But i thought your poem was very dark and understanding with what you where going through at the time. Not only was it beautiful but was also unique in every sort of way hope to buy your book.

You write poetry that I am always relating to and it seems like I can never escape my problems no matter how hard I try to. I used to cut myself and rescently started again because of all of the problems that I am going through at home and everywhere else. Everytime I read one of your poems I know that I should find a new way to let out my pain and it helps me come up with ideas for new things that I can do. So all I want to say is thank you for everything.

I reall like this poem because I can relate to it sometimes. When things get really bad at home. How I feel is so much like what this poem says it’s. kinda scary. I have never really come across a poem that can relate to my feelings without it being one that I wrote so it was a surprise to me when I came across In the Dark. I really do go into my own dark world and I don’t want anything to do with anyone all I want is to be left alone until I chose to leave my little world of darkness.

this poem is really understanding and its so relateable. but if u give it to any prep they'll just sterotype it as 'emo rants'. its just so disgusting. glad you can really let everyone noe how we all feel in the dark! Thanks
